Get to Know Shereen Hirbod

For more than a decade, I lived with constant fatigue, body pain, brain fog and caught what seemed lik every passing virus. As a wife, and mother of 3 teenage boys, as well as a full-time student, I didn' thave time to deal with health issues. However, the struggle with health affected every aspect of my life. Though I pushed myself to perform my daily duties as a mom and student, there were days that I couldn’t get out of bed, cook for my kids, or think clearly. Doctors didn’t help, they invalidated my symptoms and experiences, and instead prescribed anti-depressants . Feeling abandoned by conventional medicine and healthcare providers, I realized I would have to find my own answers.

After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology: Health and Human Performance, from St. Mary’s College, I dedicated my attention to regaining my health and well-being with determination, discipline and gusto. I read and researched to learn all I could about health, nutrition, functional medicine, naturopathic medicine and any other alternative sources of healing. Finding answers and regaining my health was a long journey. I found providers that helped me get to the root causes of my body’s dysfunction who designed a strategy to gain my health.  The validation of my symptoms alone was nurturing and made me feel like someone actually cared.  I made dietary shifts by eliminating inflammatory foods, supplemented my nutritional deficiencies, and reduced my toxin load by buying and preparing organic foods. The steps to regaining my health were challenging, and not always clear cut, but I found my way and learned a great deal in the process.

My struggle, and eventual triumph over my chronic symptoms, inspired me to pursue even more education and training in alternative health so that I may help others. In 2018, I received my MA in Holistic Health Education with a Specialty in Holistic Nutrition from John F. Kennedy University. I now have the personal experience and professional training to be a vehicle of change for those who, like me, have struggle with their health. I am passionate about working with people from a holistic perspective, encompassing the mind, body, and spirit, to empower real changes to their overall health. The road to well-being is not always paved for us, but with validation, support, encouragement and accountability optimal health and well-being is possible.
